About our Programs

The osteopathic program offered in association with Sutherland Chan School of Osteopathy designed to provide a comprehensive, disciplined education in osteopathic practice grounded in anatomy, physiology, and clinical reasoning.

The program brings together established osteopathic principles and tradition with contemporary scientific understanding, current research, and modern educational standards. This approach reflects osteopathy as a living discipline—rooted in its foundations while continuously informed by evolving knowledge and clinical insight.

Educational Approach

Osteopathic education in this program is structured, sequential, and integrated. Academic study, practical instruction, and clinical practicum are coordinated so that learning in one area supports and informs the others.

Students engage in module-based courses that examine osteopathic approaches in relation to human anatomy and physiological function. These modules are designed to develop perception, clinical reasoning, and professional judgment through progressive exposure and supervised application.

Academic study in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and embryology is self-directed and structured for adult learners. While students take responsibility for their own learning, academic content is aligned with practical modules so that theoretical study remains directly connected to osteopathic instruction.

Practical and Clinical Training

Practical and clinical education is central to the program and is delivered through in-person, supervised instruction. Students learn osteopathic approaches through structured modules that reflect established principles while incorporating contemporary scientific and clinical perspectives.

Clinical practicum is integrated throughout the program. Over the course of five years, students engage in supervised clinical practice alongside osteopathic practitioners and complete approximately 1,000 hours of clinical supervision. This sustained exposure allows for the gradual development of competence, confidence, and professional responsibility within real practice environments.

Entry Pathways and Program Structure

The program is structured to support adult learners entering osteopathic education from different professional starting points. A two-tier entry model allows students to begin their training either with prior health sciences education or as individuals transitioning into osteopathy as a new professional direction.

For those new to the health sciences, the program provides a structured foundation in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, embryology, and osteopathic principles, ensuring the academic and practical grounding required for osteopathic education. For students with previous health sciences training, the curriculum recognizes prior learning while maintaining a consistent osteopathic framework and progression.

Across both entry pathways, students move through the same integrated educational structure—from foundational study through advanced practical and clinical training—within a single, coherent program.

Delivered in association with Emet Osteopathics and the Sutherland-Chan School of Osteopathy, the program is designed to guide students through the full scope of osteopathic education, supporting their development into competent, responsible osteopathic practitioners.

Why This Program Exists

The osteopathic program exists in response to a clear need for structured, consistent, and comprehensive osteopathic education that serves both students and the broader professional community.

Osteopathy continues to attract adult learners from a wide range of backgrounds—those entering healthcare for the first time, those transitioning from related professions, and those seeking a deeper and more coherent clinical framework. This program was developed to provide a clear educational pathway capable of supporting that diversity while maintaining a single, integrated standard of training.

Delivered in association with Emet Osteopathics and the Sutherland-Chan School of Osteopathy, the curriculum is designed to guide students from foundational academic study through advanced practical and sustained clinical training. A two-tier entry structure allows students to begin their education at an appropriate point while progressing through the same unified program and expectations.

The program brings together established osteopathic principles and tradition with contemporary scientific understanding and modern educational practices. This integration reflects a commitment to osteopathy as a disciplined, evolving field—one that values its foundations while remaining responsive to current research, clinical insight, and professional responsibility.

At its core, the program exists to support the development of osteopathic practitioners who are thoughtful, competent, and prepared to engage responsibly within modern healthcare contexts. By emphasizing depth of study, continuity of supervision, and long-term clinical engagement, the program aims to contribute to the stability, integrity, and future of osteopathic practice.
